"It's been a while, Sunshine," I murmured softly, but the effect was immediate. I watched as the blood drained from her face, leaving her looking as though she'd been abruptly roused from a blissful dream and plunged into a nightmare. A terrible one. But I vowed silently, it wouldn't remain that way, not as long as I was here. Maybe I was here to change it all or perhaps to make it all come true.
